I have a Stevens Model 200 in 7mm-08 and a Savage in .223.. both shoot well with reloads. I tried several loads before finding that my .223 likes the 69gr HPBT over Varget.

I would also suggest a Volquartsen Target or other after market trigger to adjust out the over travel after that Volquartsen hammer improves the pull. It will also make a surprising sufferances if debur everything and can polish the pins that they rides on. ( if you have never done trigger work...
