NYT article: "Concealed Carry's Body Count"

I stumbled across this editorial on the New York Times website referencing a Violence Policy Center report on shootings by concealed carry permit holders. The main premise is that CCW advocates are lying about how often permit holders commit gun crimes...

    What's in your pocket now?

Benchmade Emissary 477, the big brother of the 470. Very nice knife. Axis lock with spring assist. Flicks open as fast as any switchblade, but completely legal in most states.

If I move to Colorado, what am I getting myself into?

This link to Rocky Mountain Gun Owners should tell you what you need to know: http://rmgo.org/political/gun-laws/57-assault-weapon

    To our California members

How would you reload an AR if you can't have a normal mag release or a bullet button? What would you use instead?

    Prove Magazine Ownership

You didn't have to do anything to prove magazines were pre-ban. All the >10 round magazines produced after the ban was in effect had "RESTRICTED LE/GOVT ONLY" engraved into them. The Glock 15-round mag I'm looking at right now also has the date 9.13.94 engraved into it.

    The argument being made

How the heck did the "researchers" reach that conclusion? A quick Google search would find dozens of cases in which honest citizens successfully defended their lives with guns. How is that "against the interests of society"? Are we better off dead?

    Today's New Pocket Knives

A few months ago I bought a slick little assisted-opener that Benchmade came out with this year, the 470 Emissary. It opens as quick as any switchblade and has a razor-sharp 3" S30V blade. Great little everyday carry knife. Grand Prairie Knives has the best online price I've found, although I...

    Mid Priced Usable Folder

Here's a Benchmade 2011 model I've already pre-ordered. The 470 Emissary has a 3-inch S30V blade, axis lock, assisted open, aluminum alloy handle, and weighs only 2.2 oz. http://www.gpknives.com/benchmade470emissaryaxisassist.html Grand Prairie Knives has the best price I've seen for this...

Press: "Gun shows have loopholes!" Really?

In Colorado, no one can buy a firearm at a gun show without going through a background check:

The plight of a Gunstore Owner.

I recently bought an AR-15 online and had it shipped to a local FFL. When I went in to do the transfer, he asked if I knew how to break the rifle down for cleaning. I answered no, because I've never owned an AR before. He very kindly gave me a brief tutorial, and I really appreciated it. Didn't...

proposed federal high cap. mag ban

Kristen Rand is right. The trick is to move quickly and ram through a bill while public hysteria is at a fever pitch and everyone is acting on emotion rather than logical reasoning.

    Why the glass-breaker?

OK. I figured there must be some reason for it other than breaking glass. I'd think that hitting something like a car window with it would likely result in glass shards in your hand.

    Why the glass-breaker?

I've been getting interested in Microtech knives, specifically the Ultratech and UTX-85. I've been wondering, though, why do most of them have a glass-breaker on the end of the handle?

    short day at the range.

The range for my club is 50 miles from my house. One time I took my two boys shooting there, only to find I forgot to bring ANY ammo! Fortunately the range caretaker, who lives in a ranch house on site had some spare 9mm, so we were able to borrow some and pay him back at the next club meeting.
