I had one years ago. Changed the stock to one I got from Boyds on sale. Removed the rear sight and replaced with a scope mount on which I placed a Burris scout scope. It worked out great, my son killed his first pig with it.
I sold the gun a few years ago but still have the scope. Just...
I see this all of the time and its nonsense. And its usually from guys that don't like what their agency purchased or their only involvement with law enforcement is getting a traffic citation.
I've never seen a large department that didn't have rigorous testing requirements for the firearms...
Most FALs including the later FNs were cast. I read on FAL files that some of the Century unibrows were made by Caspian. The one I had was excellent, never jammed and was accurate. I used L1A1 inch mags in it. Some were tight but they worked as they were supposed to.
For all the bad press...
I like the 40 and always have. I like that its bigger and more powerful than the 9mm but still fits in a 9mm sized gun.
What I also like is that in the first Obama ammo shortage and the current one, I see 40 S&W on the shelves everywhere. There is some 45acp too. But just today I was...
I've got a 642 with a lock. I bought it new and I've had it around 10 years. Never a problem.
The gun looks like hell. The clear finish is finished in a lot of places. The gun probably has around 750 rounds through it. I don't keep track, but I've qualified with it every year since I...
I had a Norinco AK47 (wish I didn't sell it) and a Norinco SKS. MY AK47 was more accurate then the SKS. But the SKS was well used, picked up the day before the 94 ban went into effect. I don't miss it now that its gone.
I never really liked the AK. It served its purpose but wasn't as accurate...
I've had both and sold both. If I had to get another I would look for one of the SKSs that take AK mags.
Although I prefer the rotating bolt and magazine of the AK, you really can't overcome the superior placement and ease of use of the SKS safety.
Although people say the SKS is more...
The bottom line is they were a quality but over priced weapon that did nothing better than a much lighter Colt SP1 in both rifle and carbine configuration.
Now AR15s are well past that stage of development. And can still be found lighter and more accurate.
The 93 is a cool gun for...
Before all of the craziness that went down after Sandy Hook, I gave a lot of thought about getting a 6.8 upper. It was more readily available than the 6.5 Grendal. Now its the 300 BLK. This seems to have put both in the 6.5 Grendal and the 6.8 SPC II into the soon to be obsolete category.
I'd...
I know "everyone" loves the magnums. But I'm a real believer that the 30-06 is more than enough gun for any North American Game. Learn to shoot, pick your shots and use good ammo. From what I've read the Swedes have been reliably taking moose with the 6.5 since it was introduced.
I tend to...
