Whitetail round in 223? Any ideas?

As a kid of around 10, I was presented with my first shot at a deer. It was a doe, and although it was doe day, the deer was facing directly away from me. In other words, I had a great view of the deer's arse. My mother's current boyfriend was with me and was whispering "shoot it!" but even...

The Sam Cade Thread of Knifey Goodness

Sam, I love your work! I agree with JShirley that these would make awesome swords, especially the bottom one pictured - sort of like the Chinese "executioner" style. I'd love to see you do this design on an old 2 1/2" trucker's wrench - those 2', 10 lb. monsters I used to see hanging on shop...

Help! Ideas on gun (gift) for husband

Welcome to THR! First of all my suggestion would depend on asking the question "what does he like to do (with the guns)" - meaning, does he have them primarily for self defense, or does he hunt, target shoot, etc. I see men often posing the question "what gun should I get my wife," and most...

So do you let two high points pass for 150.00

I've seen 'em, handled them, shot them. Personally I'd pass at pretty much any price.

Do you have "a super accurate 22lr rifle"? What ammo? What about bulk? @50yds

Marlin XT-22 TR, this is 17 rounds (1 tube) at 50 yards. The 2 fliers were the shooter's (my) fault! Bushnell "bone collector" optics, on a bipod, ammo was Federal bulk pack from the good old walmart days.

    S&W Autoloaders - Which Is Best ?

I'll throw in another +1 on S&W's 1911 models. I have a scandium 1911PD and it's been fantastic. I think they're underrated and overlooked by many.

    .223 rem on whitetail deer?

    > I figure you saw a mature buck that had shed it's atlers. Maybe! And I was traveling 50+ on a bike, etc., so my estimates might be off! I call it the "fish-estimate" :D My point was, what is massive and almost unbelievable by our standards is still smaller than the deer in Canada...

    .223 rem on whitetail deer?

I would definitely agree that what we see as "deer" here in Louisiana is much different that our northern neighbors! I had a rather large (by our standards) doe cross about 20 yards in front of my motorcycle a few weeks ago; I'd say she was 250+ pounds, and that looked HUGE to me. Most shots...

    Draco mods advise

I'm not sure I would want a Draco against my cheek while firing! My best results personally have come from equipping one with a sling and keeping the sling tight while shooting it. No mods required.

    22lr pistol shooters please help

In my opinion the Browning Buckmark and Ruger Mk. series set the mark quite a bit above any of the others. I love and own the Buckmark, and have much respect for the Mk. Rugers.

Slimmest profile and grip 1911 in 45acp?

I am not nearly as informed as many of the members here; but, if I am not mistaken, any 1911 with slim grips on it is going to be within a few microns of each other. Slim grips vs. Regular (thicker) grips would be the only discernable difference. Please correct me if I'm wrong?
