Mossberg does make the 500 with the same barrel and mag cap setup as the 590. However it appears they only come in the tactical version with the 18.5" barrel and pistol grip. I don't know if a replacement 590 barrel would fit but my guess is it would. So long as it's not a heavy walled barrel...

Thanks for the replies. I'm not real worried about recoil. I shot my buddies Winchester sxp and it was alright. Their about the same weight. I feel I made the right choice. I wanted something at a good price and American made. I like Remington but I like Mossberg even more.
