I use Federal...in my revolver! LOL
Marlin 60 can be picky with cheap ammo. I recently had a bad shell lifter spring that was giving me fits. Same symptoms. Make sure you didn't kink the main spring.
I've had both. I bought a Rossi 16" barrel in .357 a couple of years ago and I love it. Fit and finish are very good. The Marlin just seemed a little chunky.
My sons .40 Glock version has been flawless. Never a jam/FTF/FTE. I'm about to reload some and we'll see how it likes those! It is a bit flimsy but it's made for a BOB.
I chose a Rossi M92 in .357 only because I wanted a pistol caliber to match my Cimarron .357. I have hunted with a Marlin 336C in .30-30. Probably my favorite lever gun.
