One thing I learned is that the finish on these old guns is not as smooth...
Here is another one, this is the 4th S&W model 19 I have refinished. This one looked like it took a tumble on the concrete.

Here is another one I did: a Remington 511 Scoremaster, the owner brought me the parts about 3/4s polished, so I finished the polishing, blued them and painted the ready-fire and safe indicators as well as did some nitre bluing on some small parts

Here is another one, this is a cheap little Stevens model 73, only needed the barrel reblued and a good cleaning, came out pretty nice

Here is this month's project: I took a $50 Marlin model 60 and created the "Super Deluxe Edition"
Rifle: 1988 vintage Model 60 with 18 round magazine and 22" barrel
Magazine: Brass 18 round magazine from "Golden 50 model"
Stock: Walnut thumbhole stock from Boyd's, fitted with factory...
When sanding I used a block of hardwood, I just remove enough to make the pits disappear. When the pitting is too bad or the roll marks/engraving too shallow, I have to make a choice. On one project (a Marlin model 1893) I found some pictures of the factory roll marks on a mint rifle, had them...

This one started as just a stock that someone gave me. Someone had cut off the barrel band portion of the forend and painted it black...
I bought this Ruger Standard pistol at a gun show for $80, it was missing some parts and in need of a refinish.

I have another one! This is a Smith & Wesson model 27 from the early 70's, some previous owner engraved their driver's license number on the gun, in two places....it also had some holster wear and mild rust pitting...I removed the graffiti and polished it up, then reblued it.
