Gun safe/RSC options for decent sized "arsenal" :P

Check out Zanoti Armor safes. They're designed to come apart so you can move it yourself. When it's together and locked it just won't come apart. I've moved mine 3 times already, two upstairs apartments and now upstairs in my home.

    DIY holster guys - Needles?

After I groove the leather I run an overstitch wheel in the groove to mark where the stitches should go. Then I use a Dremel tool with a 1/16" bit to drill the stitching holes. The needles go right through.

When did you get into firearms?

As a teenager, I had a BB rifle, and was a member of my high school rifle team. When I turned 21 I bought two things I couldn't previously purchase legally: A S&W 28 .357 mag, and a bottle of Champaign. I sold the 28, regretted it, then bought another. Still have that one. My second gun...

    Startup gunsmithing info

Buy lots and lots of gunsmithing books. My library continues to grow. Some are written for the home/hobbyist smith like yourself, others are written for the professional. Don't let those books scare you, just be aware that the processes they describe often require special tools. Proper...

Do you keep gun stuff in your trunk? Make sure it doesn't leak.

Here's my version of the electrolysis rust removal process: You can remove rust from metal using electrolysis, and it will not harm the bluing. The main advantage to this method is it gets all the rust in hard to reach places. You will need: · A plastic container that will hold the part...

Tell me about Kuhnhausen's 1911 manuals

I purchased both books. The first book describes how to check a 1911 .45 for function and measure for spec, and also how to perform some upgrades/customization. The second book contains blueprint measurements and specifications. I found the first book very useful, the second book makes a nice...

    Cleaning up old guns

Stolly, I've had great success removing rust with electrolysis. This method won't remove any bluing (I haven't tried this with any other finish other than bluing, so be aware.) ----- You can remove rust from metal using electrolysis, and it will not harm the bluing. The main advantage to...

    Introducing the Camo-Master (a.k.a. Project .45)

Project .45 is now completed. You may laugh, or you may sneer, but the work was all mine! It began life as a Federal Ordnance 1911 clone, but I tweaked it a bit as follows: 1. Removed front and rear sights 2. Polished internals 3. Installed 2-piece Briley bushing 4. Installed and...

    DIY leather holster?

UT, I do leather crafting myself, mostly for the cowboy action shooting crowd http://www.eightbitsleather.com . When I was doing my sewing by hand, I used an overstitch wheel to mark where the stitches should go in the groove, then used a Dremel tool with a 1/6" bit to drill the holes. Then...

Do you buy guns on credit?

Absolutely! I'm an impulsive buyer; so much so that I have my credit card memorized so I can buy online. If I really, really want a new gun, and don't have the cash, I'll charge it. :D

(TX) Would-Be Burglars Met with Homeowner's Gun (2x in 1 week)

8830 Here in NC if they're stealing your car from your driveway, you can't shoot them. If they're in your house stealing your TV, you can't shoot them. However, if they're in the process of breaking into your home, you can shoot them dead. But once they're inside, they can do whatevery they...
