    Lones Wigger has passed away

I had the pleasure of being squadded next to him at Camp Perry one year back in the 80's during the individual, High Power championship. A true gentleman, a fantastic shooter and we need more like him. He regaled us with story after story of his shooting experiences and answered every question...

    El Gamo Mod. 126

I have an El Gamo Mod. 126 air rifle that has been rebuilt once and is now in need of repair again. The rifle will not hold compression. The person who previously rebuilt the rifle, lived/worked in Arlington, TX and appears not to be in business anymore. Does anyone know who works on this...

Would you pay more for an M-1 Garand with DCM paperwork?

Does it ad value? Yes How much, depends on the potential buyer. The good news is that you can obtain a "history" from the CMP as to when the rifle was sold and maybe get something in writing from them to that effect. tn hp

Mystery Rifle - Please Identify (Pic Heavy!)

The "E", which appears in a couple of pictures, tells me that this is an Eddystone manufactured 1917 Enfield. Since the rifle is in 30.06 caliber, I would venture to say that it is was manufactured for the U.S. after entry into WWI and after the contract with the British government was...

    Redfield aperture sight

I am not sure that a Merit, adjustable iris will clear the bolt. I use a Merit on one of my match rifles. Relative to the sight being mounted "backwards", it is, of course, mounted that way to due to the cut off device. These sights were quite common on sporterized 03 and 03A3 rifles...

tracer ammo- damage to bore? Need quick answer!

Most tracer projectiles made by U.S. mfg.'s do not ignite until they are well down range, 50 to 100 yards. Some of the older tracer bullets may not ignite at all. I would not recommed tumbling, tracer compound could fall out, if phosporus (sp) it could ignite on exposure to air and if not, and...

Grip suggestions for a Model 28-2?

I presume that you have the orginal magna or small service style grips. I would recommend a set of the target grips with the "football" relief cut for the speed loader. These would be, if S&W factory, correct for the M28 and "period" correct. Check out the smith-wessonforums.com. tn hp

Hard plastic factory cases OK by TSA?

Based on my experience, they are acceptable. Make sure to check guidelines for the airline you are going to be using.

Smith and Wesson Model 28-2 year of mfg.?

I traded a firearm that I didn't care for to acquire a Mod. 28-2 with a 6" barrel today. My first center fire hand gun was the same thing in 1974. Somehow or another it got away from me and I acquired a 4" in about 85', but I just didn't enjoy it as much as I did the 6". The one I got...

hunting with winchester 70 pre 64

Swatguy, I hunt with two pre 64' Model 70 rifles and shoot two other pre 64' Model 70 rifles in high power rifle competition. My hunting rifles are a 30.06 and a 300 Weatherby that originally started out as a 300 (H & H) magnum. The orginal owner rechambered it and I still don't know...

    500 Yard ranges?

Chattanooga Rifle Club has a 500 yard range. The NMC there is 200, 300 and 500 due to real estate constraints. They use an NRA approved 500yd target to approximate the 600yd target but, it looks like a gnat to me. However, it is the only range on which I have cleaned a target past the 300yd...

after market rear sight for Springfield 1903A3

The O'Hare sight will not work on an 03A3. Other than an issue sight, another option, other than Lyman, would be a Redfield Olympic or International rear sight. Of course, you will have to obtain the appropriate base and it will have to be drilled/tapped in order to attach it to the receiver...
