Your rifle was made in Nov.1942.The lock bar windage knob and milled trigger guard are early features and correct for that serial number range. Enjoy your new rifle!
About fourteen years ago , I was living above a tavern . A guy I knew walk in and told me that he was moving out of state , and wanted to sell his rifle- a Colt AR15 for $300.00 . I said "Nah , I've got no use for it " . :eek: Yes , I'm still kicking myself .
Another vote for the BHP...for all the reasons already mentioned.
I have two , a '66 T-series , and a '94 FN . These are the only two pistols that I will (probably) never part with .
I too have a J-frame with the " J " in the middle of the serial #.
"97JXXX" . I was told when I bought it , almost twenty years ago , that it was made in the late sixties .
