    7-08 Elk wannabe?

I have read the same blog post and I call bull. Why a "experienced" elk hunter would let some shoot at an elk 14 times is, in my mind, disgusting. He claims in his story, that the elk made no movements or even acted like it got shot. Bull. No animal could take 14 shots with no reaction...

    Best barrel length for turkey

I am in the same boat you are. I am going out for my first turkey hunt this year and am using my 28" Wingmaster. I have had my eye on some the Mossberg dedicated turkey guns. The majority of them have 20 or 24" barrels. I think your 21-23" range is perfect

    44 MAGNUM for Elk

I personally wouldn't use it, I prefer a flatter shooting round that I can use at a longer range because of the area I hunt. If I was hunting the thick stuff and darker timber a 44 lever gun would be a great rifle and I wouldn't hesitate to use it under 100 yds.

Looking for a fun bolt-action rifle

Weatherby Vanguard S2. Sub-Moa guarantee and a great price. Since caliber doesn't seem to be too important I would go with one of the standards (25-06, 270, 308 or a 30-06) Any will give you the "kick" you are looking for without too much abuse and won't cost an arm and leg.

    elk bullet question

I use the 180gr Partitions for elk but I would have no problem using 165gr Fusions

    best rifle for pythons

    I would want something bigger than a 22lr. Maybe a 22 mag or a centerfire like a 223 or a 204 ruger

    30-06 Alaskan rifle choices

Go for the Weatherby. Its stainless just like you want and the new Series 2 all have a sub-moa guarantee for quality ammunition (and well made hand loads). I think a synthetic stainless rifle would be perfect for a wet environment like Alaska and the Weatherby would be a great option.

How is your small game hunting going?

Went out a few times this year. Dove hunting was a bust and only got two. It went a little bit better while I was scouting my elk hunting area and I got four grouse over the course of two days. During Thanksgiving break (I am a teacher) I am going to go out for pheasant and rabbit

    2012 muzzloader deer season

Corey, I forgot to ask, what muzzleloader do you have in that picture? What load are you using behind it? Thanks!

    2012 muzzloader deer season

Thanks Corey. Yea grouse are pretty stupid :) I have hunted them before but was just curious what loads you were using. Everyone seems to have a different opinion. I also prefer #6 for grouse but some people stick to 7 1/2 walmart loads. Great pics and it sounds like a great hunt

    2012 muzzloader deer season

That is awesome. I am heading up this weekend to do a little elk scouting and grouse hunting. What loads did you do to use to knock those grouse down?
