I'm trying to find a specific kind of .22 rifle.

It's been a while, but I bought my lefty daughter a 581. We fired shorts and LR from the magazine, plus there was a little plastic insert for the magazine to make it into a single shot. The 581 isn't a thing of engineered beauty....even thought the bolt was on the left, it ejected to the...

    Nagant M1895 Revolver: Underrated stopper?

I sold mine to a person with an eastern European accent and a name ending with a vowel. But before I did so, I enjoyed the heck out of it, and shot probably 2-300 rounds through it. It was reliable, never mis-fired, was slow to re-load, and who wants to shoot a horse anyway?

Rifles in .357 and .44 magnum

Seems like there's a bunch of posts on this subject. But here goes again: I own a Uberti Mdl 1873 in .357/38 Special. The only issue I've had is that it jams if one tries to chamber Keith-type bullets, but factory jacketed or lead RNFN bullets work fine. It's available in 44 mag for a few...

    Which .222 Rem?

I bought an older Savage Mdl 24 (combo 222 Rem/20 gauge) last year, fully intending to re-chamber the 222 into .223 (mostly since I already have a couple of those). It's an easy job....just ream it out from 1.700"/43.2mm to 1.76"/45mm. But even with open sights, the .222 barrel is spooky...

Sold an AR, bought something with soul.

There aren't a lot of bargains out there, but with the current craze for black rifles and handguns ("if it don't shoot 35 rounds without reloading, it ain't worth havin' ") there are some decent buys on "real" guns: blue, case hardened, silver and wood.....

    S&W cylinder stuck

rcmodel is right....use a business card (I used a plastic wallet calendar at the range the one time I had the issue). Screwdrivers are not good friends to many klutzes......

    Tough double-action .357?

I like S&W, so my .357 Mags are a 20-year old 586 and a Mdl 27-1. But I let a guy talk me out of a SS Security Six that I carried and shot for years. So I like them both. Had to do more tinkering on the Ruger's trigger to get it where I wanted it, but that seems to be the case on most Rugers...

    1895 Nagants still available?

FWIW, an article in our local gun club mag....hope it's not too long: This is one of the more interesting revolvers produced. At first glance, it’s a typical strongly-made East-European/Russian revolver of only average fit and finish. And you’d be right. It was the Russian/U.S.S.R. standard...

Just Built my first 10/22--What ammo to use?

Various premium brands have worked well in mine.....but, oddly enough, (after 10 break-in rounds) 10 rounds of Remington Cyclone shoots only 1/2" larger group at 30 yds.....and can you find anything cheaper?! But it doesn't shoot worth beans in a couple of other rifles.....so it just goes to...

Top Eject vs. Side Eject for Lever Actions

Tahoe 2 "was trudging thru the "jungles" of western Washington for the last 3 days deer hunting in the wind and rain, carrying a Marlin 375 (336) with a peep sight at the ready, no leaves, water, or pine needles entered the action with the closed top receiver, don't know that a Model 94 would...

Henry Golden Boy, Marlin, or Winchester ???

I've owned the 9422, the Marlin and the Browning. A used 9422 that's slightly beat would be my first choice, followed closely by the Browning. Alas, since 9422 production stopped, for a while, too many sellers were a little too proud and prices jumped. Lately, though, prices appear to be...

    Nagant M1895 Revolver: Underrated stopper?

Why not get one? I had one for years, until an actual Russian made me an offer I couldn't refuse (I thought of it as the Peasants' Revenge....it was Stalin's favorite handgun). I enjoyed reloading for both original brass as well as converted 32-20 (possibly the easiest cartridge conversion in...

    German rifleman

My uncle was a tank commander in N. Africa and Italy; he lost an arm about 2 weeks into Salerno. He said US armor tactics used tanks as infantry support, while German tactics called for just the opposite: large and numerous tank assaults, with infantry as support. US tanks initially, then...

Ruger 77/357 or Henry Big Boy 357

.....It would be great if someone made a real 1860 clone in .357 Mag though.... I'd take the funky loading then...... That's probably not going to happen. I see Uberti and Cimarron both make an 1860 clone in both brass and steel, but limit the choice of calibers to 44-40 and 45 Colt, both of...
