    Is there a best speedstrip?

I have both. Tuff strips are thicker and stiffer than the Bianchi. That makes them harder to load up and I worry that they would be harder to use. I still use the HKS loaders.

    S&W Model 57

You should be able to clean up the finish if you are careful. Don't use any copper solvents when cleaning it. You'll strip the nickle off the gun.

    Let's see your non-blued S&W's!!

I found this no dash model 66 in a gun shop I used to frequent. Abandoned and alone, I had to take it home.

    original Browning Hi Power?

JR isn't all wrong. The hammer gets some people, but not others. It can be changed. There's not much that can be done with the trigger except for removing the magazine safety. It's just the way JMB designed it. The hammer and sear can be cleaned up. If you replace the hammer, its a good idea to...

    Cz 83 32 acp

They are nice little guns. Be careful when buying magazines. The .380 magazines are the same size but they won't feed .32 acp rounds reliably.

    Smith 442 grips

I've had the stock boot grips, a set of Spegel wood grips, and I'm currently using Crimson Trace LG-305s. I don't actually care for the laser, but the grips are about the right size for me.

    Springfield 911 380 acp

Is the 911 anything more than the Kimber Micro or Sig P238? Both of these are knock off of the Colt Mustang. As for a 9mm, wouldn't that be the EMP? I can't keep up with all these designer guns. Here today and probably gone tomorrow.

The 357 Magnum and my hands.

Time catches up with all of us. I'd stick with .38's in the K-frames. I tried some .357's in my M27 about a week ago and it was just fine, on my K's it's a whole other story. I have a brother-in-law who will get out his M629 maybe once a year. He will shoot about one cylinder and call it quits...

    revolver cleaning

I usually run a patch wet with Ed's Red or Hoppe's down the bore and let is soak in for a bit. After a few minutes I'll dip a brush in the solvent and scrub the bore a few times before I start running patches on a jag. When the patches come through clean, I call it good. While I'm waiting on the...

My first SIG P225: a love story (dialups beware... lots of pics)

The P6 and the original P225 are pretty much the same gun. The P6 has the funny hammer and tighter springs. Great find. I think that model is the best feeling Sig in my hand.

    hi power trigger sucks

The disconnect usually gets the blame for a gritty trigger. A good gunsmith who knows his way around an HP can clean it up while leaving the disconnect in place. Should it be removed? That's a loaded question. Some gun clubs consider that an alteration/removal of a safety device and...

    NAA Guardian or Beretta Tomcat

I have a 32 acp Guardian. I sent it in to the factory for some custom work: stippled frame, real sights, wood grips and slight melt job. That done, it's a nice little pistol. It's all steel so it's heavy for it's size. It's pretty much a one or two finger at the most grip. The springs are pretty...

    S&W 686 (no dash)

Excellent gun with some nice accessories. Very well done.

    Gun Cleaning

This has some of the makings of Ed's Red. Ed's Red Bore Cleaner 1 part Dexron ATF 1 part Kerosene - deodorized, K1 1 part Aliphatic Mineral Spirits or "Stoddard Solvent" 1 part Acetone

    1911s don't like me.

I have only one 1911 and it's a 9mm. Cleaned and greased, it gave me some trouble on a cold day. Cleaned and oil, I've never had trouble with it since. Some magazines work better than others, but if everything is in spec the gun should run. There are plenty of good modern guns, but a 1911...
