It looks like you describe a Para Ordnance gun with no external safeties. Many many many people would not agree that it's even an 1911 at all, much less a "perfect" one.

So other than comfort, is there really any disadvantage (like accuracy or reliability) to having a long-actioned rifle chambered in a short-cartridge? For the background, this came up in a conversation about the Rem700 .300WM and the drop-in conversion (+bbl and bolt change) to .308WIN.

That's how I read it. All this bill does is take your existing CCW and requires all states to recognize it. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like any Oregon Reps signed onto this :(

It's a colloquial vs. proper English thing, not a UK/US thing. Kinda like ending sentences with prepositions, or using "they/their/them" instead of "him" or "him or her" or "one" to describe a gender-independant person.

beerslurpy: I'm not sure what you mean about more recoil and less capacity. The only 9mm ARs I've ever shot (about 3 different ones, totalling about 500 rounds or so) have had less recoil than a 5.56 AR and used 32rd mags, which is more capacity than a 30rd mag for the 5.56.
