Why do we have to “give” anything? In this country guns are a right, not a bargaining chip! This is one of the major things that set the US apart from the rest of the world.
How can you tell if someone sold a gun, unless you know they have that gun. Universal background checks = registration. They gotta know who's got 'em before they can track 'em.
According to the guy and his grandson standing in the next lane, it was my M1 Garand. I touched off a round and he had a fit over how loud it was! I politely explained that it is a gun range and loud noises are expected. I also pointed out that hearing protection is advisable.

The reason behind SBR & SBS's being restricted goes back to the NFA. Pistols were originally on the list of NFA firearms. They did not want people cutting down rifles and shotguns to a concealable size. They were not able to get the votes to pass the legislation without dropping the restrictions...

Refined lead is very stable, they store nuclear waste in the stuff! If it can withstand high levels of radiation for 10's of thousands of years, I don't think I would worry much about a few lead bullets breaking down in my yard. (I shoot on my property too.)
