Had The Same Problem I had the same problem loading my 9mm, until I figured out that I was crimping the case a little too much. Seems the case was cutting into the cast round and setting up the steps for making it tumble.:)

Thanks to all of you that came to my aid and answered Lupinus for me. The only dumb question is the one that is not asked. The range officer with over 30 years of experience pointed it out to me and all I could say was Huh?

I don't wash my brass at all, I just throw it in the tumbler and let it go, but the one thing I do different is that I use long grain Rice as the media and I think it works just as well if not better than corn cob or walnut shell and I can get a 25# bag for less then $5.00 :p

Shot a bunch today I loaded up 350 rounds on Saturday and shot them off today with no problems! I used 4.3 grains of Winchester 231 powder and a 100 grain cast bullet and only had 2 mis-feeds with my C9 Hi-Point. :o
