    Garand vs M14?

Years ago, I got several M-1's thru the DCM and had them accurized. Then switched to M-1A's that were accurized to the same degree. All of the M-1s (all .308 with 1/11 twist barrels) shot good, but the M-1As would always out score them in a match. Sold all the Garands and now have 3 M-1As...

reloading and shooting 308 in bulk

Ball powder, as a general rule, always has more carbon/soot than stick powder. Protect your gas system from carbon and use stick powder (4895 or equal). More accurate thru a wider range of loads and cleaner burning.

Finding the right COL for 30-06

As long as you can get it...and have it still feed from the magazine.

Sierra MatchKing .223 69 Grain HPBT Load

For years the Camp Perry match load was 24.5 H4895, gi cases, Remington or Winchester primers and the 69mk for the AR-15 service rifle. Still hard to beat that load today with an AR.....consistant and accurate over the course.

    First rifle relaods

Only uses stick powder...never ball powder. Ball powder, generally, works best in a very narrow range. With stick powder, you can go down a few grains from max and still get good accuracy. 4895, 4064, Varget...mid range stick powders. Not the cutting edge fastest velocities, but good accuracy.

my heads swimming set me up for 45 acp

I have to agree with the Lee Turret press....the 4 hole turret. Buy a seperate crimp die and use that last.... to crimp....do NOT crimp with the die that seats the bullet into the case. In 45 and 9mm, the bullet seating and the crimping works best with 2 seperate operations....one die for...

Do I owe my wife an apology?

The law of most sucessful marriages is.....you always owe her an apology... even if you are 100% right. Otherwise, you get to listen to the crap all day and all night. Of course, if you don't love her, tell her to take a flying hike.....and if she take the hike, no problem..... But...

    Virginian Dragoon Price and Info.

The problem with the Va Dragoon is the little screw that holds the ejector rod to the barrel. That is a strange thread, so don't lose it. In fact, it backs out under recoil so often, I would locktite the screw before shooting it.

    45acp Revolver

I have 2 625's...a 3 inch and a 5 inch...both model of 1989. Love them both, but the 5 inch is the most accurate gun I own. I will never sell either one.

    Problem with my new sp101

Something to look for....soft primers in the fired cases. If the primer flows back around the firing pin, that will lock you up pretty fast. Change ammo brands and try a session at the range ..... might be your only problem.

    Beware! Berry's bullets

Yes...I just got 1500 .357 lead tips from Missouri Bullets. First class lead and first class packing.

    M1A Load

I don't think a micrometer case gage measure is worth the cost. Simply take your sizer die all the way down to the shell plate and size a fired case. Clean the case of any lube, and insert in your chamber with the op rod removed and the extractor removed. If the bolt closes, with no force on...

    Accuracy problems.

My stainless Colt revolver in .357 was a dog also. S&W way more accurate than Colt....or Ruger.... for that matter. 90% of the time, a S&W will shoot really accurate, tho once in awhile one is not 'match' accurate. About 1/2 of the Rugers are...and the other half are not tack drivers...

    .41 mag anyone?

Got rid of my model 57 and 500 rds. a year or so ago....41 ammo too hard to find. Of course, all ammo is now getting hard to find.
