    Marlin 1895 feed problem

Found a vid. that's shows me there is nothing wrong with the rifle, they do not have a secondary catch, rounds do pop out when the feed gate is depressed. Guess it makes for easy unloading..either way, I found the answer, thanks for the replies. https://youtu.be/DCn3fxRhmB8

    Marlin 1895 feed problem

I did not take the feed gate off during cleaning, I merely pushed it open and cleaned around. I am not familiar with the 1895, or most levers for that matter, im just used to semi-shotguns, like the 1100 etc, when you push a shell into the tube, it stays in even if you reach under and push open...

    Marlin 1895 feed problem

Its nothing to do with a Jam, as far as cycling through the rounds with the lever, as it does fine..it has to do with merely loading the rounds into the feed tube. Every time I push the feed gate open on the side to insert another round, the round already in the tube pops out, or least tries to...

    Marlin 1895 feed problem

Well, im stumped..Took a friends Marlin 1895 45-70 apart, cleaned it, assembled it, and now if I push a round into the feed tube, and start to push a second round in, the 1st round trys to jump out of the tube. I have looked to see whats happening, but all I see is the cas head pushing back...

    223/222magnum load data needed

Been playing with the 222Mag. again and wanted to try some 75gr Amax in it. Barrel is a Criterion 1/9 twist, so I know its a hit or miss thing already, just had a couple boxes of the 75's laying here and wanted to play. Looked around the web with no listed loads for the 223 or 222mag with the...

    Reloading for a 22 Hornet????

Rain has stopped, so I got to shoot the hornet some today. Listed below is the 2 best groups achieved, tested a total of 10, 3/set loads and was pleased to find 8 of the 10 sets would do 3/4 or better, and the other 2 about running about 1.1 inch. Even with it only being 60yrds, im very...

    Fiocchi 223 brass reloadable?

Just finished off a 1k round case and have reloaded prolly 100 rounds with absolutely no ill affects. Although it may not be Lapua, I would rank it up with the best Remington can put out, I did notice the primer pockets were a bit snug, but to me nothing undue, and this is a good thing in my...

    Reloading for a 22 Hornet????

Ran across this in another article. Did put a shim, bedded around the contact point on the fore arm and use my barrel inletting tools to free float the rest of fore arm. Will post some results if it ever stops raining here.. Heres the link in case anyone has a Ruger 1 or 3, as both are pretty...

    Reloading for a 22 Hornet????

@ Walkalong. Not to bring up a heated debate, but was wondering about trying some Small Pistol primers in some loads. If im correct on the physical aspects of the difference between the SR & SP, the SP is a reduced propellant and is thinner>? I have looked at many cases fired from my No.3 and...

    Reloading for a 22 Hornet????

P.S Did not have any Lil gun, as it cannot be had within 2 states from lol. Did try some W296, and Imr 4198, Same results, 1 trip to the bench from cradle would give .3's and the next trip might do an 1".....

    Reloading for a 22 Hornet????

I bought the lee collet die for my hornet and was not pleased. The mandrel was so rough and soft after trying to polish it on my buffing wheel it was undersized. I opted for the Redding S bushing neck sizer. my loaded round was right at .241, so I ordered the . 238 & .239 bushings. Found that...

    Press & Die Thread Pitch

With the PA die im using, the die end does not even protrude below the press, its recessed about 1/8 up in the press. Seems some of you hit on the same idea I was thinking about squaring the die to the ram. Im going to stack washers on the shell holder until they fit snug at full cam, then I...

    Press & Die Thread Pitch

Well, I think what got me on the subject was digging out my ole No.3 22 hornet. After I purchased a redding S bushing neck sizer, I could produce pretty good rounds. I understand the hornet necks are super thin, and naturally a bit finicky, and any concentricity issues become more profound. I...

    Press & Die Thread Pitch

After reading some concentricity issues on reloading, made me wonder why the original developers chose the "Standard" thread pitch used for presses and dies. After running scenarios through my head, I figured the thread pitch was chose due to speed vs concentricity, what people would live with...
