    Taurus 445 44spl

Have the ul version, which makes for a good carry 44 special. Dremeled the sharp edges off years ago. Had the stainless version, which was for practice. The ul version is a handful with Blaser 200 GDHP's, and not a pleasurable range pistol. Replaced the gripper rubbers with older set of...

    9mm subsonic.

While running various 147's, have tried 124's with hp-38. The lighter bullets worked fine, especially if you needed a little more umph to run the suppressor without using slower powder with 147's.

    30-30 loads.

Not loading 30-30 very often, but another fan of 748 under 125, 150 and 170 bullets. If looking for better accuracy, some might consider trying differing amounts of resizing. No, i did not recommend "neck sizing" for a lever, but there is a variance in chamber cuts and sizing dies.

CZ 550 Varmint Bell and Carlson stock

Nice Rifle! Have a number of CZ's, and all but one are very accurate. However the 308 varmint owned needed the muzzle crown recut to do it. Am also particular to the earlier CZ's, and yours has a very nice stock and excellent bluing! Mine came with the kevlar HS precision stock. Just...

    Hornady 190 grain sub-x in 308 bolt

The main goal is to have same capability of subsonic 300 bh, without changing to another rifle. That and have a lot of these bullets. While i don't have recordings, a subsonic out of a bolt 308 is closer to as quiet as a bolt 22 lr with subsonics, as it is to my 45 acps. The 45's are semi's...

    Hornady 190 grain sub-x in 308 bolt

Maybe not energy wise, but ime a suppressed subsonic round through well scoped 308 20 in bolt is A LOT quieter than a suppressed 45 acp through semi carbine. In addition, it is significantly more accurate at any kind of distance. Lapua's 200 subsonic bullet stabilizes well in the rifle, and...

    Hornady 190 grain sub-x in 308 bolt

Has anyone tried the 30 caliber 190 grain sub-x in a 308 Win bolt rifle with 1::10 twist? Thanks

    7.62 NATO Question

Pretty key item here, what are you shooting them in? If loading for a semi, might consider some trial dummy rounds to load from lock back and see if anything happens to col. A lot of the older surplus rounds had sealer to help keep them in place. I tried this once when loading for my FAL's...

CZ 550 Varmint Bell and Carlson stock

As the last of this springs projects, ordered a Bell and Carlson stock made specifically for this rifle with heavy barrel and detachable mags. The rifle has been sitting quite some time as was having difficulty making it fit with limited scope mounting options putting scope too high and...

What reloading components have you overbought?

So is 7000 berdan rifle primers considered over bought? 2 large green boxes of the original speer 200 gn ashtray? Several boxes of Nosler's 250 44 caliber partitions? Was sharing the 500 yd rifle range with some shooters when the conversation revealed i was using reloaded berdan primed 308...

    Favorite 45 Colt Cowboy loads?

Am not a cowboy shooter, but do like shooting the Rugers in 45 LC. Favorite load is 7.5 gms hp-38 under 200 lrnp for just 850 fps from 4.5 in barrel. Unfortunately some sights need to be modified to accommodate the lighter bullets at 25 yds. Am liking the Lee 255 lrnfp, but use it for...

how did it start for you?

Best times of child hood was going to grandparents house to visit. Got to shoot bb rifle in the basement. They bought me first cap gun when very young, then those miniature muskets that fired cork balls powered by caps. Grandfather gave me first firearm when turned 12. Single barrel 20 gage...

Why Do You Carry A Gun?

In case my grand daughter needs protecting. Personally would not be that polite, as it is not his business. Potential family or not. If pressed would respond in the manner of "in case some prevert bothers my grand daughter"

    Little help with .308 sizing.

yawn, physics directly relates to how the chamber is cut, the sizing die is being used, and the purpose. It's not just that the rifle is used for another purpose. As you state, rounds are for the rifle chamber. There is a very large difference in how precisely and accurately chambers are/were...

    Lee's Factory Crimp Die?

For revolver rounds am preferring a Redding profile crimp. While the LFC can be useful for brass that is inconsistent in length, and is easily adjustable for degrees of crimp, it does not work so well for angled cannelures in traditional lead. As others mentioned, it can also swage down lead...
