I'd like to know which Streamlight tactical laser/light is better for mounting on a shotgun: the TLR-2 or the TLR-4? The mounting is standard picatinny rail.

Now, I prefer the TLR-4 because it's smaller, lighter, cheaper, and I don't need a super high amount of light being output, just enough to see what I'm aiming at. I just don't want the light to fly off from the recoil of a 12 gauge, so which is going to stay on during shooting or is there another brand better suited for shotguns?

Does anyone think Streamlight's laser/light combinations are worth the extra cost?

Love my TLR-1 (both of them) but for a laser, I think this is a great idea - the dot pattern spreads with distance - just like shot:

And - being a shotgun, the precision of a single dot is sort of... overkill, if you will.

Looks like a good piece of hardware, but I'd imagine it must drain the batteries quickly. Also, as you shoot a shotgun at various distances, you'll get an idea about the spread.

I would get the TLR1. I wouldn't get a TLR2...I wouldn't trust the laser with 12ga recoil.

I used to work for Streamlight and I highly doubt that their quality has increased. The only reason why I own Streamlights is because I got employee pricing. I'd never pay retail for any Streamlight.

If you can afford better...I would recommend going with another company.
