lever action cleaning

What about the BLR? I've had mine for 35 years and have never cleaned it beyond the occasional bore-end brush and patch and squirt of CLP in the chamber.

Is there some reason everyone seems to want to clean these from the breech -- when an empty case
in the chamber and a simple bore guide will obviate the need to continually take the gun apart/bolt out?

Agreed. I don't think I will ever disassemble my Rossi 92 ever again.

If you use them in bad weather a fair amount like I do then you'll find that a once a year full strip and cleaning is well worth it. In particular the magazine tube can get pretty messy and even rusty if you shoot much in the rain if you don't break it down annually and clean then lube the inside of the tube and the spring.

It also gives me a chance to check for corrosion and oil the metal surfaces hidden by the shoulder and fore stocks.

I know on my pump shotgun I e easily gone 1000 rounds between cleanings if not sometimes 2000 rounds. I would suspect a lever action could go quite long as well with the occasional bore snake

I have 2 1894s and 1 1895. I take out the lever/bolt every time to clean.

I take my Rossi 92's down and clean from the breech at times, other times I use a crown protector and clean from the muzzle. There's a great series of videos on YouTube by a fellow named Trey Wall that walk you through the process step by step. After a couple of times, the intimidation factor goes away. I disassemble and clean from the breech my Henry Big Boy as well. They also have a series of step by step how-to videos linked to their website.
