On New Years Day I took out some test loads to do a ladder test with. I was pretty happy with the results. So I took the best performing group averaged their powder and went back out a few weeks later. I was disappointed to say the least. My group was about 4" at 300 yards.
Well yesterday I took out some loads that were my next best performers from that same ladder test. They also performed poorly.
Then I had the bright idea to turn down my magnification so that the mil dot in my reticule just bairly covered the orange circle on my target.
My target was set out at 240 yards. I took the scope from 16x down to 8x and shot two groups of the right after each other. Then I turned my magnification back up to 16x and shot another group of three. As you can see, I do much better at lower magnification.
