Do pistol and rifle magazines go on sale and where is the best place to get them? I'm looking for AR15 mags and mags for my Springfield XD Mod 2 9mm.

I've seen magazines on sale at CNN and Midway. Can't say which is better. I've gotten what I consider bargains from both.

Both wikiarms and gunbot have magazine price tracking. (I imagine others do too, they are the two I use the most).

For mags, you'll be hard-pressed to find better prices and service than you'll get from 44mag.com.

I've seen sales at Midway with mags. They usually drop the price $2.50 or more depending on what mags they are.

Cabela's does to, but their normal price is so high that when they have a "sale" the price is the same as Midway's normal prices.

Natchez usually has low prices.

I buy most of my mags from Botach . They have good sales on bundles sometimes. Some people dont like them but I havent had any problems in 20 years of buying from them.

Is the 9mm Springfield XD mag the same as the 9mm Springfield XD Mod 2 mag?

Be advised that Botach engages in false advertising.

They had Beretta 17 round magazines advertised for $19.99. When I checked out my order the price jumped to $29.99 each. Botach not only refused to honor the $19.99 price but did not change it to $29.99 on their website.

There are a lot of reputable companies to do business with. Botach is not one of them.

Yeah, well I ordered a complete new in the box Colt 10" SBR from them one time. They had them advertised online for $699. Seems they forgot to put that prices was for law enforcement agency use only a.k.a. "the real price" . Had my dealer send his C3 license to them and everything. After a few weeks it became evident they were never going to ship it. Never did get it but I got my money back in a few weeks. Otherwise Ive never had a problem and have spent 10's of K's with them over the years. They even screwed up once during THE BAN and sent me 20 qty 20 round 308 Galil mags . Made a small fortune off those.

Ive been to their shop in "The Ghetto" in LA before. Its like a little slice of Tel Aviv inside. Theyr'e all Israelis and are all heavily armed.

You just need to get an idea locked on what the market prices is, to know how "good" a sale is.

$5 off AR mags could be good--but not if it's on $25 20 round mags.

Sadly, you will also get a feeling for what the price ought to be, too. There are so many AR mags out there, the 20 rounders ought to be $10, and the 30s about $15--instead of $20 and $30 respectively. Certainly should not be $30 for GI discard "rebuilt" with "green" followers. Whereas a new-in-the-box Magpul might be a good deal at $30.

Uh, 30 round magpuls are still $12. The 20 rounders are less popular so they make less of them . $1 more for those. Even Cabelas has 30 rounders on the shelf for $20.

Is the 9mm Springfield XD mag the same as the 9mm Springfield XD Mod 2 mag?
Yes, All XD mags will fit Mod 2 XD's. I'm not sure if the XDM mags are interchangeable but, my mags for my XD 4' service work great in my XD Mod 2 45.

Try primary arms http://www.primaryarms.com/ for the AR mags and more stuff on AR's. Have seen magpuls for around ten bucks on occasion with faster shipping than psa. Have a decent line of red dot scopes as well.

CDNN on pistol and sometimes AR mags. Often the pistol mag deals are the Mecgar equivalent (Mecgar makes a lot of mags for manufacturers but also sells under their label).

Topgun USA on some pistol mags that are relatively hard to get such as SIGs

Midway USA sometimes on pistol mags and AR mags.

Brownells has some occasional deals on AR mags. Sometimes on specific pistols there will be a modest sale.

I have also picked up magazines from Numrich at a good price during the last hi capacity magazine scare (after the NY Safe Act bs)

I agree on Primary. I think you nailed it one needs to remain patient and have wide vision of sellers. I've a large unopened stash of OD Magpul 30 rounders acquired at around $10-11 range. Ditto black. Same but wider net for everything from 1911 magazines to grease gun magazines. Really the only thing that drives me nuts are CZ magazines. I will see if I can sign up for their sale email alerts. Thanks for that Materdei.

CDNN is the first place I generally look. Midway as well, but they are usually 'normally' priced unless you catch a sale.

Aim Surplus carries Gen2 PMags $12.30 free shipping on all MagPul. Hard to find them any cheaper. Metal mags or pistol mags, agreed that CDNN is the first place to check. Gun Mag Warehouse is good if you buy enough to offset the $10 flat rate shipping, which isn't hard for me...

It's pretty easy to find AR mags on sale somewhere, USGI style and PMAGs. You just check the sites already mentioned. I've had good luck at many of them, especially CDNN, Aim and even CTD. Haven't looked for XD mags but finding a good sale may take more effort.
