Have old style Para frame kit and Springfield Champion upper I plan to build up with. I know the rails on a kit this old are cut for a "drop-on" install of a 1911 upper. (Yeah, it's one of the OLD ones) will I have to shorten the rails to Commander length as well for a SA short upper? Anybody done this?
TIA, J

I've cut Gov't frames for Commander top ends. Machine the recoil spring guide seat and the frame rails back .100" and shorten the dust cover (forgot the dimension, but it's cosmetic only). I use an end mill with a small corner radius to leave a radiused cut on the inside corner. That is to help reduce the possibility of cracking in the usual spot.
