Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone had used this yet on a .308 I bought it being impressed with it on a 208 gr ELD-match. However, there is just more recoil than is enjoyable for a rifle I may shoot dozens of rounds through in one trip. I was just curious if anyone has found other loads they liked, or if it should just be saved for my .204 Ruger. Also, any opinions on .308 loads are appreciated!

I use 47.0 grains of CFE223 in my remington 700 SPS in .308. It shoots sub-MOA with Hornady 150 grain interlocks. I have shot this load several times and had the same results time and again. At 100 yards, a 5 shot group with them all touching. At 300 yards, it's shooting under 2.5 inches for a 5 shot group.

I realize it's probably on the lighter side of loading, but I do equate the recoil to a full power load, so i can see your point, but it's my go to powder for .308.

Perfect. I've been shooting a 700 VTR with a 1-10 twist also. That could be important info

Just started testing it. 47.5 grains behind a Nosler 168 BT cut the group size from 1 inch, with Varget, to .6 inches at 100 yards. Group opened up at 48 grains but that's as high as I've gone.

Shot a second day to verify accuracy but did not chrono.

From Hodgon site:

Start

46.6 2,662 48,200 PSI

Max

49.0 2,828 60,400 PSI

Chrono data, 5 shots, this .308 has a 20" barrel

Mean 2709
Spread 20
Std Dev 8

It has been an excellent powder in several .223 bolt and AR rifles also.

1-10" twist in mine as well, should have mentioned that. I got lucky, it was literally my starting load and after the first group, i opted to leave it right there. One day I'll get around to running it through a chrono, but I don't notice any difference in recoil between my 47.0 grain load and the factory stuff so it should be travelling at a respectable speed. i shoot factory stuff for the sole sake of getting more brass that I can load.
