At about the five minute mark in Ian's Youtube video, it seems like the serial number is on the front of the frame, about where your fingers would lay.
Some descriptions of the Fiala say something like "most have the serial number..." or "some early guns have no serial number." I do not know if this is accurate or not, but be aware that a Fiala pistol may be correct (and legal) if it was made without a serial number as production antedated the FFA and NFA.
