I got my eye one one but they want $350 for it. I know that green lasers are more easily seen in daylight, but is it worth it?

You don't say which brand of 1911 you are looking to outfit a laser on. But if for a Kimber or S&W (and I read someone said it fits on a Ruger, though that isn't confirmed), I bought one of these for my wife to fit her Kimber. The green is a lot brighter, and shows well in daylight.

The lasergrips take 2 2032 batterys. And will do okay with the red lasers. But with the green lasers draining the batteries faster. You may be replacing a lot of batteries. The trigger guard uses a CR2 battery that will last longer. But that is depending on which brand of 1911 you have.

FWIW, I have one of the red laser versions like you are looking at, that is on my Kimber. It's so-so in daylight, depending on distance and what type of target I'm aiming at. Certain coatings on the targets deflect, or disperse the laser light.

Back to your question. "Is it worth it?" If you will be using it every time at the range, yes. Just make sure you buy the 2032 batteries in bulk, if you don't already.

But if you are wanting a laser for backup sighting, as in awkward defensive shooting position, I would go with the red laser.

I have it on a Kimber series 1 Pro Carry. I took a red one off and replaced it with green after I tried green on a Glock. It is much easier to see. I've been thinking about getting a green one for my ECO, but been busy.

A Springfield Champion (short slide) 1911.

I like the laser in the grip concept as I would not have to buy new holsters.

Does anyone know if a company other than Crimson Trace that makes a green laser that is in the grip?

Unless someone has come out with something recently, no. Crimson Trace has the Lasergrip trademark and I don't think Viridian or Lasermax have anything comparable to them.

I have them on a Ruger SR1911. Look good, fit well, and work great. Yes they are expensive, but I think they are worth it. Now that I have them, I no longer worry about the cost. They are very bright inside a dark room. I don't know if that is a problem, I've never had the opportunity to shoot my gun inside a dark room. Green is a lot easier to sight in on the range. The red laser can be very hard to see under many outdoor daylight conditions.

CT's patents have expired and other companies are now making laser grips.

Hogue now makes them, but they have the wrap around fingers for their 1911 grips, which I don't particularly care for.

There's a knock off being made in China now, that can be had on e-Bay for ~$20. I bought one out of curiosity and it is a total POS. Worked for 2 min and then died. But I did get a full refund, and kept the grip, so no harm-no foul.
