I had one of these in my hand last year, via an Armslist ad, asking $300.......and I passed !!! :banghead: I was put off by the aged, plum patina on the slide, and didn't realize till later that this was common and normal, and that $300 was a really good price on one of these.

I have a 909 - full size single stack 9+1 - that is far more cosmetically challenged than your 908. Scractches on the frame, milling marks on the top slide, holster wear on all the right places. In fact your 908 looks nearly NIB compared to my 909! It also means I never have to worry about dinging it up myself.

Nevertheless, the bore is clean, the internals all excellent and it has a DA pull that rivals my S&W Mod 10-5. I suspect yours is a smooth shooter too.

Go for the refinish if you like. You'll end up with a stunningly good looking pistol.

7 yards. I know this thread is old, but I couldn't resist. I just picked up a NIB 908 last week. Did a fluff & buff and headed to the range. Wow... it shoots great, even with Winchester white box. Only put 100 rounds 115 gr. through her, but no hiccups what so ever. Love those 3rd generation guns. I'm very pleased with the shot group... especially since everything was so tight, mags as well. It's now my fav EDC.
