hi does anyone on here have any experience with the cz550 fs in 6.5x55? Was thinking about getting one some time in the future. It's a pretty neat gun, plus I'm also german and a little Swedish so that makes me want one even more. Anybody have one in 9.3x62 and if so what's the recoil like compared to a 30-06? Thanks

No 6.5x55 in the 550 so I can't help you there, but I have a .243 and a .308 FS (and a .308 Varmint) and I think they are great guns. Here at THR and on the Centerfire forum at RimfireCentral (where there are a lot of CZ owners) owners routinely rate the 550 FS in 6.5x55 very highly.

Here's a little enabling for you. :)

i have a 550 american in 6.5x55 with a 24" barrel and a 3.5x10 AO leupold scope. i have not gotten to work with it much, but factory 140gr ammo stays under 1.5" at 100 yards. this summer i will start working with it with reloads,i,m sure it will shoot MOA or better. eastbank.

Another thing I'll say about the CZ FS guns, do not fall for the conventional "wisdom" that the full stock hampers accuracy or consistency. I have 4 of them along with a bunch of other conventional style rifles and Varmint styles, and just like MANY other owners in similar scenarios have reported, the FS guns are among the most accurate of the bunch, and consistent.

Having both the CZ 550 in 308 and 6.5 x 55 it is nightmare to pick up one only. Superb rifles.

They look beautiful, when I first saw one I didn't really like the full stock but they've really grew on me.

I had one. The recoil is roughly twice that of .30-06 of similar weight. If you don't mind the weight the CZ550 is good rifle of good quality. Early ones are nicer as they had steel follower, forend cap and magazine floor plate. In late ones these parts were made of plastic.

^ This is not true for any of them I've ever seen. Mine are 2002, 2005, and 2012 models. You may be thinking about the rimfires, but what you wrote isn't true about the 527s or the 550s as far as I've ever seen or read.

I wanted a CZ550 in 6.5 and FS, one sexy puppy that one is. Here the local agents said they would not bring it in, EVER. I then asked if I could have the 550 in the American version and was told categorically NO, these were for the American market only and would not be diverted. I then asked for a 550 barrelled action and was told NO.

So I order my last choice the standard 550. Two weeks later they started importing the FS, I asked if I could change my order and was told NO it was already on the ship. GRRRRRRR

Notwithstanding this, it is a great chambering that will punch 0.6MOA when I am doing my little bit.
