My latest mold made by Mihec in Slovenia arrived this week, and it is something really different.

Instead of being a hollowpoint SWC, it's a hollow base wadcutter. Once I figured out how much tin I needed in the alloy, it started filling out much better and was producing top quality wadcutters. Should be just the ticket with 2.7gr of Bullseye in my pre-Model 14 S&W.

With the alloy I'm using (a lot of tin and little antimony, so as to have the same BHN as swaged wadcutters), they are weighing 148.5gr (very consistent) and dropping between .359" and .360". I am sizing them to .359" in my Lubrisizer.

Cool. They should be good shooters from your pre-model 14.

I got a brass 38 caliber, 125 grain HP mold from Mihec 6 to 8 months ago and had a bit of learning curve with it as well. A wonderful piece of equipment, though.

Color me a bit jealous:p They make a great product for sure. I have some steel and some aluminum molds but no brass ones yet. Was wondering how they would work out.:)

Yeah, Mihec's brass molds are simply great. I've got 5 of them.

Don
I also have 5 Mihek brass molds, 4 are the HP models. 50 cal 700 grain HP, 45 200 RN HP, 45 200 swc, 44 240 HP, and a 358 swc based on the 358156 platform, also a HP design. All are exceptional in precision and workmanship. The ONLY bad thing is waiting for the group buy over at cast boolits website to be filled so that Mihek will do the run. Then wait for the molds to clear customs. One mold took 1.5 years to arrive.

That said, the last mold I got came from NOE,(night owl enterprises). It took 6 days from order to arrival in my mailbox. A 22 cal 55 grain plain base that I will coat and load in my 22 hornet. This aluminum mold also was as good as Mihec's great molds. It casts like a Lee aluminum mold, but it's small size demands a lot of tin to fill-out properly.

I have over 30 other molds, there's a couple of Lyman steel, but the rest are Lee. There's nothing wrong with any of the Lee molds, but a couple had to be returned because they just weren't right,(misaligned cavities).

snuffy,

Clearing customs doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. For this mold, I ordered it online on May 14th, and it arrived on May 22nd. Yes, waiting for a Group Buy to end is a long, drawn out affair.

Don

Sweet mold there.

I have a big brass CBE mold from Austrailia .512, about 1000g as it drops for the big whisper. Only brass mold I have, and dang it casts nice.

Would like to get a couple Mihecs for sure...

Those are, some very good looking bullets Don and that mold looks top shelf plus. Don't forget the range report. I'm betting they shoot very well especially from a K-38 Target Masterpiece.
