This is a 5 part article I wrote for a Survival Blog contest.

There's no voting or anything, so I'm not looking for that. I'm just sharing an experience.

I suppose I should give a disclaimer. Once I submitted this, the copy-right went to Survival Blog. It's not something I can cut and paste in this thread, unfortunately.

Also they were allowed free reign to edit it as they pleased. A couple of them are cringe worthy mistakes where the mashed two sentences together.

You CAN comment on the links, but I don't really get any notice if you do. So I will probably miss them. If you have questions or comments, please ask away in this thread.

Part 1 - How to loose 31lbs in 13 days following the HOW NOT TO DIE DIET(tm).

Part 2 - Why I'm glad I didn't make a Bunny Loin Cloth

Part 3 - I once tried to run down and club a Mule Deer to death for dinner

Part 4 - I cuddled a man ever so closely and still almost went hypothermic

Part 5 - Biggest lesson learned? Always have a gun and a knife.

You guys are very welcome. I've an odd sense of humor for sure. lol.

But I think it's useful to keep this in mind.

I know there's a mentality out there of, "If society falls apart I'll head for the hills".

Regardless of how you tart it up, that's you becoming a refugee.

Granted, we had minimum gear but we were also in excellent shape with the best of mindsets(namely that it would end at some point). People heading into the hills loaded down for bear are still going to suffer tremendously and die.

We aren't all Liver Eatin' Jeremiah Johnsons!

Good read.

I wish there was a database of pounds lost (or gained) in military schools. 3 weeks of jump school and I lost about 20 pounds, and I was gorging myself on fast food every night and weekends...
