Sam Houston's Harmonica Rifle at the Smithsonian

I'll add this pistol attributed to Houston without comment, except to say that it doesn't appear to be cut down as described.
In the case of both, I'd be interested to know what provenance supports the attribution to Houston apart from the inscriptions.
