Need some help identifying this box

Educated guesses:
Looks like it's made of metal to me. Very stout, too, with strong hinges, welded hasps and thick walls. I'd want that if my locker needed to contain ammo that might cook off in a fire or be subject to lots of vibration or jostling around.
Taking a guess that the handle on the box lid might be about 5" across, where your hand would fit it.
If so, the box might be about 10" wide. So not so large as to be too heavy to move by hand when loaded.
It's white, or was.
That little tab at the bottom of the box might fit in a corresponding slot or mounting bracket of some sort to "fix" it in a particular location. Meaning whatever it was supposed to be associated with might be mobile.

I know they painted the insides of tanks white. So my guess is that this would have been a .45ACP ammunition locker in a tank or armored vehicle of some sort. Or maybe a patrol boat?

I've seen something similar inside halftracks, but the while color leads me to think it was an enclosed armored vehicle.
