What are your thoughts on their performance on whitetail deer? I’ve read that federal discontinued this product. I have a chance to buy a lot for $1/round. I was thinking about stocking up in bulk because it’s “relatively” cheap. There is not a lot of info out there on them. I only saw one video on them on YouTube and it was crap because the guy used a smooth bore barrel and it keyholed in the ballistics gel.

As a general rule any shotgun slug will work well on whitetail. Even those that don't expand put a 50+ caliber hole through the deer.
What I have found to be the specific differentiator is how they shoot in YOUR gun.

Lightfield sabot slugs are touted as being very accurate for many people, however my Browning BPS with a fully rifled barrel hates them and sprays them out in what looks more like a pattern than a group. Compare that to the Federal 3" Hydrashock slugs which I have shot more than a couple cloverleafs at 100 yards.

I don't think I would buy a ton of them unless you knew that they shot well in your gun.
