pay it forward

I thinks bds had to stop his thread for personal reasons.
I am currently taking care of my aging parents who suffered multiple cancer treatments while I am still working fulltime.

I recently found out we may have to move from our retirement spot where we bought 2 houses to better support my parents medically two states north after I retire. Wife is not amused but becoming more understanding. My upcoming vacation in 3 weeks will be spent moving my parents into a new house ... please pray for my body.

I will post when I can (I got a break this week) but as to doing any shooting it's not feasible as I am traveling to my parents on days off in another state.

When things settle down, I am hoping to resume my THR activities of supporting various "myth busting" threads but in the meantime, you can support blarby's PIF thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/pay-it-forward-in-reloading.698208/

I was thinking about the PIF threads last night and was going to try to dig up some fodder to post. Life got in the way. 2 rambunctious little girls are eating my time up, and I'm loving it...except for the moments of tantrums and backtalk...

I had vowed to post items regularly...and I immediately popped off 3. I'm behind now and need to get stuff moving again.

hope all goes well if i was close id come and lend a hand i got a box truck to. but your west coast right.

Yes, northwest coast.

And thank you all for the kind words and prayers. Certainly making me appreciate the frailty/fragility of human life.

It's hard to see my parents who prepared very well for retirement not be able to fully enjoy due to medical conditions. They told me to do things that I want to do and enjoy "Now. Don't wait." My parents and wife already discussed that as soon as I retire (maybe in 2.5 years, perhaps close to 2), I will be flying/driving them to various destinations and families to visit, perhaps for the last time (His brother's wife is already 95 and fading).

Life happens. It's how we choose to respond that "defines" us.

Our daughter encouraged us to watch the movie "The Bucket List" again the other night and it sure enlightened my perspective of life and gave deeper meaning to my existence. My favorite lines from the movie - "Have you found joy in your life? Has your life brought joy to others?" I see our coming together to share and celebrate our hobby and passion of shooting/reloading bringing joy to our lives and joy to other members/guests. And incredibly, various THR PIF threads (there are many in different categories) thrive to bring joy to many recipients' lives.

Hey BDS, good to here from you. Best of luck with your parents. I'll put you in my prayers. Thats a tough situation. My inlaws have health problems and are starting to get where staying in their home is not a long term prospect. So we'll be going down that road in the near future also. Places like THR is a great place for support and to lose yourself in a hobby you enjoy. Hang in there.

Thank you all for kind words.

Over the decades, the hobby and passion of reloading and unloading (shooting ;)) has often been therapeutic from life's challenges.

I am very thankful for THR and people who manage this wonderful forum (many voluntarily like Walkalong) which has allowed me to lose time having fun away from sometime torments of the world.

And the notion of "Pay it forward" has brought goodwill to many as we all journey through our destined and fateful lives.

bds,

My parents are gone now, 10 years for my Dad and 11 years for my Mom. Like you, they depended on me in their waning years. I'm so glad I was able to help them in their time of need and I know that they appreciated it. As I look back on those times, they were difficult but I cherish every minute I was able to spend with them. I know it is hard on you now, but I am sure you will feel the same way in the future.

Thanks for all of your informative posts that I have learned so much from. God bless you and your parents.
