I’m lucky that I have a mechanic shop at the front of my neighborhood and the owner is a good guy. About two years ago I needed a new set of tires for my old truck. My mechanic was talking about getting an AR. We worked out a deal. I got a new set of all terrain tires on my truck and he got a nice AR.

He’s always giving me good deals on any work he does for me.
Just last week my son ran over one of these. While driving my 2004 Ford F-150. It was about 8pm and no street lights in the area.

The estiment on the damage was right at $4000. The biggest problem was that a chunk got caught between the driveshaft and muffler, bending the driveshaft. A new driveshaft was $900.
My mechanic checked everything out, got me a replacement driveshaft and made sure the front end was ok. All for under $600.
He had told me that he was about to buy a new lower for a 300 Blackout upper he had. So when I picked up my truck on Friday I gave him a complete PSA lower with Magpul furniture. He didn’t know what to say. I told him it was my way of saying thanks for all the money he has saved me over the years.

It sucks that your truck was damaged but it’s great it worked out well.

I’m so glad to hear he treated you right and you could do something in return to make him feel appreciated.

You do a lot for others which is great, and I’m glad to see the karma is hitting you back in kind. I only wish more people understand what you do and that it doesn’t take much to be kind, to do something for others and that there really isn’t a cost.

So thank you for all you do. And may the good energy keep flowing for you, yours and all you impact.

Another "Well Done Sir" to ya' Gunny! I have always believed in the old saying: "What goes around comes around" and you sir are living proof of that! Keep up the good work!

Couple general life truths here. First, if you find an honest mechanic, treat him like your favorite cousin. Secondly, most people tend to remember when you treat them right. Lastly, doing business with someone does not always preclude friendship.

Nicely done Gunny. It's always nice when you can go the extra mile to say thanks, and you know it's something the recipient will really appreciate.

Next time you truck takes a beating though, you could probably trade a few dozen of your Mosins and get a brand new truck for free.

4K on a 04 F150? That's got to be close to what its worth. Glad it worked out in the end!
I was thinking the same thing. It’s a four door with leather interior and it’s clean. The insurance check should be in this week and I’ll get a few of the other things fixed.

Good man!

well when your buddy don't drink beer a lower i just as good lol

Or a lower is ALWAYS a better choice.
Of course I don’t drink much beer, and on the rare occasion I do it’s a good beer, but a lower lower lasts forever and is less filling. Now if we could just get them to taste great..

Sorry wrong ad.

Good to know I'm not the only one with sons who seem to find more trouble than I ever thought possible.

I learned as a young man that it took more effort to be kind then it took to be rude. And that an act of either was contagious. Just think of the days when someone was nice to you. It could be as little as a smile or wave from a stranger. It made you want to be kind to someone else. But when someone is rude to you, things go the other way. I make an effort every day to be kind to someone and try not to be rude.

Now some of y’all may find this strange coming from an Old Gunny, but you don’t have to be rude to be a mean SOB, just ask my kids.
But fear not. The Gunny has not gone soft. I pack a gun everywhere I go and know how to use it.:)

Yeah, we could have a nomination period, using quotes from postings as our justification. For example, a nomination for Gunny would have
