24F949BA-A4CA-4975-9334-68C8B9F4764B.jpeg After about 700 rounds (factory and handloads) of 38 special (in this 357 Single Action) and everything shooting low to some degree or another, I finally gave in and took the file to it. Did an initial group with the handload I’ve settled on, took 5 strokes off with the file (that first one hurt a bit), 5 more shots, another 5 strokes, another 5 shots and another 5 strokes. I’m pretty happy with where it’s hitting now. Gonna live with it for a bit and see if I want to take any more off. Best to err on the side of caution in this endeavor. Full load 357’s will likely shoot high now, but 99% of my shooting is done with this particular handload. Now to Perma Blue it.

Funny how after the first few swipes it gets easier. Ive done this in the past and was cautious, i had a long way to go on that one or i would have lived with it. Now if i need a little modification here or there i just do it and havent regretted it yet.

Yep, no fun having one that doesn’t shoot to POA. It’s usually a case of “Why didn’t I do that sooner.”

Hmmm, now you’ve got me thinking. Full house 357 shot the least low. My 38 special handload is fairly hot and shot slightly lower than the 357’s, and that is what I set the sights for. So since I raised the POA, it seems like the 357 should now be higher - that it would raise all loads proportionally. One way or another I’ll find out.

Three or four click action?

I JUST bought a Cimarron Frontier pre-war 7 1/2" .45 Colt.

I meant to buy the black powder version but screwed up the order.

I ordered a single position Uberti base pin for it yesterday.
3 click, retractable firing pin. 4 clicks wasn’t important to me, and I’ve gotta say I’m really pleased with this system so far. I shoot the snot out of this thing, so we’ll see how it plays out in the long term.

I found the same thing the first time I mounted a CB radio in my 76 Bronco. The antenna was going right smack in the middle of the roof. We took out the headliner, and I put that drill bit up, swallowed hard, closed my eyes, and hit the trigger on the drill. I think I heard the truck scream. After that. No big deal. You want a hole? Where? Let's do it.

Brownells also makes an Oxpho-blue liquid that’s pretty good for touch ups too
I second that endorsement and more. That is a very good product.

Even though that's the way you are supposed to eight in a fixed sight SA revolver I agree it's difficult to take a file to the front sight. That feeling goes away when you start hitting where you are aiming lol.

Nice revolver.

That was the most important thing to me, but I don't do cowboy action, and I'm never going to carry mine.

It’s a big deal for some people, I totally get it. I don’t do cowboy action shooting either, but it do carry it on occasion around our farm/woods.

Like the octagonal barrel on your Taylor's & Co. Drifter single action! Gives it a kind of vintage look as well as a sort of custom touch.

I do the same with my non-collectable single actions using a very fine file and finishing them off with a high grit sand paper. I set mine to my own hand-loads for POA, POI at 30 yards. Most front sight posts are made deliberately tall so that you have the option to do so. Here's a pair of new Vaqueros in .357 set to the above. As they are glossy stainless, the sights tops were polished to match the revolvers finish with Mothers mag polish and a soft rag.

I've been on a .357 shooting kick for the last few months. As long as you use similar bullet weights, there's no meaningful difference in POI between heavy and light loads in this caliber, especially at 25 yds. or less.

Well you certainly bring the bling with those guns and with that rig! Very nice everything!

Got to love stainless Vaqueros and Mother's Mag Polish!

Hi and thanks. I don't want to hijack the posters thread, I only have a few photos of my firearms so it's what I picked.

I wanted a B movie type style of holsters for a couple different sets of six shooters but they were way to expensive. Something with just a little "bling" was $800.00 or so. I thought I could maybe try and alter a plain set of Triple K's I had. That's the end result. To be honest I only wore them once and that was to the Salem witches ball in Salem, MA in costume (gambler). Their just wall hangers for the most part.

Sorry if I deviated the posting.

Don't you hate to do all that shooting? I know you love it.
Cock it, press trigger, powder burns, bullet exits the pipe.
Intake, compression, power, exhaust.
That revolver is magnificent. Thanks for the thread it helps people.
