That ferocious battle against the Taliban involving "Slab" and other Navy plus Army spec. ops warriors is 'described' in a latter chapter of "Service", the second book by Marcus Luttrell (the "Lone Survivor" warrior).

Most definitely!

And exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it!

Me too, this is more like what I'd expect out of a exceptional, honorific, SIG.

But I'll admit I'm a 226 fan, the pinnacle of the Sig line as far as I'm concerned. So I'll admit my bias

JR24

My first SIG was a Browning BDA .45 (a.k.a. P220). Liked it so much my next one was a P226. My workhorse for testing new handloads was a P228 that my brother let me use for awhile. My current favorite is a P229R.

So yeah, I guess you could say I'm something of a P220 series fan myself!

That's what a commemorative pistol should look like. It looks like a firearm with class, not an overglossed hairdryer.

Color me cynical. So this foreign owned company spends a few grand and makes a shiny pistol that will get itself lots of media attention. Big woof.

Want to do something real? You just got the pistol contract for the US military, worth millions. Give a small percentage of your profits to a veteran's group for an aid program. That would be a real help, not just a self serving photo op. Like I said, I'm more than a little cynical about gifting shiny trinkets.

Ooof. A couple of seconds with Google would have saved you a Crow dinner.

Also, for anyone interested, the Aiming for Zero match is next month. Last year SIG raised $45k for the Active Heros Foundation and is hoping to beat that this year.

So, yeah, SIG is doing a lot for veterans charities.

To be honest, I don't really like commemorative anything for guns. Guns just don't make a good starting point for artwork IMO.

Here's a couple of pieces from the NY Metropolitan Museum of Art's arms and armor collection, made by Tiffany. I think the revolvers made a good foundation for art.
