Prior to this current "mil-spec" Defender, the last couple "A1 Mil-Spec's" I bought like yours, had that same issue. Someone got to grinding that serial number into the disconnector track on the underside of the slide, and the gun felt like someone poured sand into the action when you cycled the slide. Took a LOT of stoning to get that smothed out.All I did to my -A1 MilSpec was stone the electro-pencil serial number smooth on the under side of the slide, upped the recoil spring to a Wolff 18.5# for ball ammo, and greased the rails. (and swapped in Trigger Happy nylon grips for the crossed cannon cocobolo's).
Runs like a clock.

The one I just got still has the same electro penciling, but it was very lightly done, and not nearly as noticeable. I still will probably touch it up though.
Springfield still couldnt figure out the correct frame dimentions either. These are the last two I bought, and they are in the same serial number range, and you can see the differences in the frames. One (on the left) is pretty close to spec, the other, way off. The dust cover and the radius at the front of the grip are the two major differences.
I swapped out the somewhat cheezy cannon grips as well, for a set of S&A full checkered mahogany's.
You can really see it here, compared to a Colt GM....
Just curioius here, but your gun appears to have the stainless bushing, or is that just the light?
This Defender I got, has a SS barrel and bushing, and is TIGHT. I thought I was going to have to go find a bushing wrench to get it appart.
