I've been waiting for my AR-10, 308, parts kit from Optics Planet now for three months. Every two week they tell me the same story. It will be here in a day or two and then we will ship it right out. Oh well. I've looked around a bit and I can not seem to find a source. I guess I'm really bad at internet search efforts. I would really appreciate your help on where to go for one. I also hope I'm in the right area to ask. Thanks all.

Given the lack of a "Mil-Spec" guideline for Large Frame AR's... we will need more info.
Brand receiver set ?

And FWIW, I'd bet we all have had an Opticsplanet story just like yours. I won't order from them anymore.

Years ago I ordered something on black Friday for a Christmas gift and it showed up December 23. That was the last order I made with them. I've become spoiled with the Amazon 2 day shipping and now I think anytime something takes more than 1 week something is wrong.
What about the Aero, Anderson or PSA sights? I'm sure there are others but those would be the first place I'd look.

An upper parts kit, like the dust cover and forward assist?

Schuyler Arms has these for sixteen bucks.

Great experience shopping for me. He did get a flip cap wrong. I offered to send it back but he declined, stating the correct one would be there in two days. He was right.

I recommend Schuylers and BKings Firearms and Right to Bear for AR related accoutrements. As well as the other higher profile sites.

Brownells is never a wrong answer...

I believe its a DPMI clone. And yes dust cover, forward assist, everything but the BCG . JP is the BCG, Charging handle is undecided. Never put an AR 10,308 together. Several AR 15's pistol, rifle, .300BO. Appreciate any and all help. I used to repair a lot of stuff and it was fulfilling to see stuff work after it was fixed. But it's nothing like putting a gun together and seeing it work or the joy from the guy you put it together for.

DPMS ? I assume DPMI is a typo. ( No offense , just making sure )

As mentioned earlier, the lack of a Guideline means even DPMS pattern is kind of vague.

Some of the troublesome parts can be... mag catch, buffer systems ( the two predominant carbine pattern parts do not intermix ), bolt catch, upper to lower pins, and free float picatinny rail heights.... even some hand grips can be non-uniform at the back strap.

Good news is... safeties , triggers, the various springs and detent pins, BCG's and barrels are typically fuss free.

If possible post pics of your upper and lower, and get detailed.

We are here to help.

Thank you!!! I am even worse at pics to computers but learning is and has always been a joy in my life. People like you and so many others are just friends I have yet to meet. Thanks! Pics, hopefully coming!

Where did you buy the upper and lower ?
If you have a link to it, that is a great start.

And , find a younger kid to help show you how to post pics... they seemingly can do it with their eyes closed !! Lol

Well somehow I think I got pics! Honest, I'm a better shot than and a lot safer with a gun than a computer. Anyway, here's my project. I'm helping a friend put it together. I guess because I've put a few AR-15's, have a mill and lathe, re-load a bit I'm supposed to know everything. It may be a bit more than him but I humbly tell him about you folks and constantly remind him that there are so many more that know so much more than I. Them I tell, I may not know the answer, but I know where to go to ask! These are the upper and lower. I think one of you mentioned how these "clones" frequently do not have the exacting tolerance of original parts. This upper will not accept the selector switch. I can mill the difference but I sure didn't see that coming. Barrel, BCG, stock and all the lower parts are taken care of. I don't need much but I really suck at computer searches. The grand kids live about 1,200 miles away or I'd have them over. I got him a Krieger barrel and of course JP for the BCG. A two stage Geissele trigger. He provides the stock, grip and most the lower kit. I've got an older hand guard and was considering making a brake for him. Well that's the build. My thinking was that the barrel, BCG and trigger where the key components and the most costly. Everything else could be changed out when he gets or saves up a bit more. Thanks all!
