Poor mans powder trickler!

Bend the case mouth into a V and you'll get more of a trickle and less of a pour. I skip the holder and just use a 7.62x54R case test tube style.

Here I am in Charlotte nc working at a plumbing company that gets a semi load of Charlotte pipe daily....

Perfect ingenuity!

Thats pretty cool! I wonder if a straight wall case would trickle better? I probably would have glued a cap on the bottom!;) Nice smooth cuts on the end of the pipe.

I do the same. I'll try pinching the case mouth. I fill the case most of the way and tap it with my index finger of the hand in which I'm holding the case. Usually works well. Occasionally I get a little too much.

A looped rubber band or better yet a couple short lengths of shrinkwrap will keep that case in position. I like it. I might make one. Drilling a decent sized hole will be an improvement over the ones I have because the trickle is more like a drought most times. I need faster flow or I get fed up and quit using it.

O-rings that fit on the case will keep it in place to if your gentle. I like that, looks like something I would be using along with my 2x4 loading blocks.
If it works, it works, doesn't matter what it's made out of.

I just use the Lee Dipper I used to put the bulk of the powder in the pan. I select the dipper with the next lowest charge below what I want, then use the dipper like an old-fashioned salt spoon until the scale zeros.
Your device is a neat alternative to buying one, though.

I think it's much older than that, possibly Plato.

Great little ingestion you came up with. Looks good to me.
I though it was Aint Jean's brother in law (cousin?) Bubba when he was fixin' his flat tire with tie wraps and scraps from Lil Bubbs' wading pool...

"Store bought" tricklers have the tube threaded inside to move the powder. Did you include something like this or just tap the case?

I was expecting to see a picture of the Dipper.
I use those the majority of the time. While doing load development, I use an RCBS trickler I inherited from my grandfather.

OP, that's a great idea.

Good idea OP!
Lightman a carbide/abrasive blade on a chop saw works great. Cuts like butter. Put some clay or plaster in the base to weight it down and go for it.:D Yeah I wonder how a 45-70 case would work there?

Many years ago, I remember being disappointed when I received a powder trickler (RCBS?) that I ordered. I thought it was going to be something more effective. If I had seen one in person first, I definitely would have made one myself.

Nice work!
