I am trying to replace the plastic housing on a Kimber Lightweight Government. The Evolution Gun Works SS unit I purchased lacks about 1/16 inch of seating so I cannot replace the housing retaining pin. I bought the housing from a private party, can't return or swap out. What am I doing wrong?

Check this video out. May not be same model but you will get the gist of it.

Compare the two mainspring housings side by side. The guide ribs on the sides may be a little too long on the top end, preventing full insertion in the frame. You can shorten those to allow full insertion if that is the case.

Also try to install it with the grip safety removed but the other internals still in place. You may have to trim the top of the msh a bit to clear the grip safety.

I completely disassembled the frame, filed a bit off the top of the housing, and was able to seat it and insert the pin. Thanks for the video and suggestions.
