I was the guy behind the counter. These women told their stories to me, and I bought their PX4s and sold them 9mms.

Believe what you want, but there is more to recoil than just mass and spring especially crossing calibers.

So that is the stories the women told you huh? Ok, what ever you say, it must be true then. Just curious, as the guy behind the counter, do you say things like this to your customers?

I am not sure of the precise meaning of "like this" even as obviously snide as the rest of the comment may be, but I think it should be even more obvious that everyone, but especially shooters and fisherman, pass along their anecdotes for what their personal experience may be worth, no more, no less.

That's what a forum is supposed to be for, right? Otherwise we'd be posting in peer reviewed journal with burden of proof and a testable hypothesis.

If you are asking if I am honest, I am. That doesn't mean that my experience is not subjective, just like everyone else's; and the anecdote I provided was presented as a first-hand account of a first-hand account, second-hand history. No one should take it as anything more than that either.

I have a PX4 Storm. I got it for super cheap, probably a police turn-in. It's been a while, so I don't recall the exact details. I've taken it to the range a few times. It works just fine. I suppose the recoil is mild enough. In full-sized pistols I never have trouble with 40 caliber recoil anyway. I would have to shoot it back-to-back with a few others and pay attention to be able to say whether or not there is much of a difference. Mine is DAO so the trigger is stiffer than I prefer. The rotating barrel aspect is very interesting. It's a cool pistol, but nothing earth-shaking, IMHO.

No, say it isn't true. A Taurus 9mm that fanctions? <Joking>. G2 Owner.

Taurus QC and longevity may be questionable, but when the PT111g2s were really hot, we sold hundreds a year, probably approaching half of our new guns sold. Even half of the staff got one. One of the guys really put his through its paces, lots of ammo, no cleaning. He was thrilled. Almost everyone was. They sure aren't perfect, but they seem head and shoulders above anything at the price point.

A shooting buddy just bought one of those, I believe it’s a THX 40, the Taurus full size polymer 40 (I may have the model wrong). Swears buy it .... and this dude would never consider a Taurus years ago. Oh how times have changed!

I've got a bunch of acquaintances who have them besides me.The only issue I know of is the plastic trigger safety can break if you force the trigger when it's not fully depressed. Since this was replaced with metal on the G2C I suspect it was common enough to get Taurus attention.

The G1s were among the taurus lawsuit and recall. Essentially the material and deaign of the sear were weak and would wear so that the sear would drop the striker when the slide slammed home.

A full auto subcompact isn't as fun as it sounds. It's a wonder no one was killed.

However, that's just one of many things addressed by current Taurus designs. They really do seem to be committed to constant improvement. I can't get behind 100% of their improvements, but they certainly keep then coming.

S&W Shield - definitely snappy.
and HK P2000 which is one of my favorite pistols.

To the OP, congrats on the Beretta 96. It looks like you picked a winner there. The Beretta may require more maintenance than a plastic gun, but I think it offers better accuracy, reliability, safety, and handling in return. I regularly replace the trigger return spring and locking block in mine. The new versions of these parts are more durable than the first generations, but I still play it safe. I also use a 16 lb recoil spring and a factory D hammer spring in my 96, but that’s just my personal preference.
Since you’ve got the Beretta covered, you may want to check out Sigs CPO program. A P226 or P229 can be had for between $400-500 in like new condition. I’ve taken advantage and probably will again. My P229 has become my regular EDC.
