Hi...I have the RCBS bench priming tool that uses the APS strips. It works great except the plastic sleeve that reduces the primer hole in the shell holder is a short lived item. I modified the shell holders so that they were made to fit the particular size primer that I was using for that particular cartridge.
The photo shows the modification that I made sleeving the primer hole with bronze filler rod and then drilling it to size.
I got some brass rod that just fits the primer hole in the shell holder. I then tig brazed it in place from the rear of the shell holder. I drilled the hole for the primer and recut the countersink the rear of shell holder.Hi...
That is an interesting modification. I am curious...how did you secure the brass rod it is it a press fit?
I have periodically had RCBS send me additional large and small primer sleeves as they do tend to eventually fail.
I'm assuming he dedicates a shell holder to be permanently modded.....right or wrong?
