Thinking about picking up a new Colt Cobra 38 Special. Can someone tells me how it shoots? Is it accurate off a bench to 25 yards? What's the quality? Thanks.
SEVERAL threads in the past six months or so on the new Cobra. Mostly praise. (Myself included). Yes, it's accurate. Yes, it's top-notch quality. Yes, the triggers are superb. I've got two, can't speak to the "Night Cobra" and I am gonna pick up one of the bright stainless, but I think they're just awesome .38s (with a six-shot capacity and only slightly larger than the comparable S&W J-frame 5-shooter). But again, the triggers -- just excellent, both in DA and SA.
About all I can say is to echo the above. I've never been a fan of the small J-frame size, 5 shot revolvers, but the new Cobra is a different animal totally. Six shots, with a grip big enough for me to actually get a good hold on. The fiber optic front sight just jumps out at me. Bigger than a "J" but not so big and heavy as a "K" frame. It's the "Goldilocks" of carry revolvers to me. As as stated above, the trigger in both modes is VERY nice.
All I can tell you is that I bought one yesterday and can't find any darn ammo for it! One more place to check today. Feels great in my hand, trigger feels great and for $550 through a private sale I can't complain. Ordered a pocket holster from Mika holsters yesterday.
Honestly when all the smokes settled and debates are over the cobras are about the perfect handgun for personal defense in my opinion. The king cobra is the top dog (rather.. snake) in my collection. If I wasn’t so in love with my CA undercover id carry a night cobra everyday.
Seems like a good gun. Colt should of had this on the market by 2005 to get a piece of the expanding CCW market. Instead, S&W, Ruger and Taurus sold millions of compact revolvers while Colt watched.
