8 years ago I shot a deer in the neck with these at about 40 to 50 yards. It was the only shot I had so I took it. As I found out this round is really not meant for distances of less that 75 yards. The shot nearly took the deer`s head off. The shot entered the deer`s neck a few inches under the nose and blew a hole out one side of the neck that I could put both fists in. It even the spinal column and everything else out of the neck.The deer dropped so fast I thought I had missed.
It was not a failure of the bullet but a failure of my understanding of the ammo I was using. IMHO It is a lack of understanding or ignorance as was my problem..

You took my favorite shot. If I'm rushed, I don't take it.
They definitely can. If you hit the vertebrae, it tries to relocate itself.

Water jugs are not a proper medium for expansion testing. i use dead field mice that my Wife's Cat colony leaves on the deck. The .45 Plus P Golden Saber opens up beautifully as shown by the bullet's I dig out of the ground.

Or unmodified semi autos that function properly on blanks.
I haven't been fed that one yet. Those are some magical blanks though.

Got another one from my brother today, he asked what's bigger a 338wm of a 308win.
Is it possible he's just yanking your chain?
I do stuff like that to my brothers just to get them riled up for a little bit. The one works in investments, so I come up with horrendous ideas and see how long it takes him to figure out I'm not serious.

Not possible with him, he knows everything or gets the truth from online experts.
all I said was 338, I with no explanation, his response was but the 308 case is bigger. I said nothing.

As my post says I made an ignorant choice of bullet for the range I was shooting. Shots of 50 yards or less are common in area I hunt.
