One thing I forgot to mention on sights. I bought a quick release optic mount of Amazon. Cost $10. Single lever on side, made for things like a Dot sight. For that price I was not expecting much. I was surprised it holds zero very well. So I can pop a dot on and off to play with the irons. The peep type irons on these work as well as any for me. Eye's are aging and irons don't work well but these do as well as any. The $10 mount worked so damn well I bought a couple more of them. I am shooting at 50ft indoor. I am sure it I was using it at 3 or more times this distance there would be slight adjustments to the dot when moving it on and off but the mounts are great fun to play with a dot and the irons back and forth.

I did this for both of my primary HD long guns. For the practical distance they might be used for holding zero isn't much of an issue - although they hold zero just fine. If the red dots were to get damaged it's a simple matter to take them off and revert to my irons. In the meantime I will continue to fervently hope that these guns remain nothing but toys.

Speer 124gr +P Gold Dot chronos just shy of 1400 fps and Federal 147gr HST chronos a little over 1000 fps out of my 16" 9mm PC Carbine. Disappointed with the accuracy of the two 9mm PC Carbines I have.

I bought 2 of them.
Sent one of them to my sister via a FFL in Michigan.

Paid $525 and $480.
I really like the peep sights on it. I still have good eyes, at least for distance. Starting to need readers for small print.

I don't keep round counts, I'd guess I have around 500rds through mine since buying it in March of this year. No failures and I haven't cleaned it yet. Minor issue is the mag release is easy to bump (dropping a mag) if you are not careful.

I made a little video for my sister's family on the basic operation and shooting of the gun:

Had a gal visiting Missouri from California, she enjoyed the Ruger.
This video was taken with her camera / phone, I should've use my phone:

I have a Ruger PC 9 and I love it. Recoil is incredibly low, because of the longer barrel you are adding plenty of speed to the round, and it is a tack driver. Mine is quite accurate and I love that I can break it apart and drop it into my pack.

likes; put close to 1000 rd. through it with out any failures, mild recoil and very accurate. dislikes; picking up and reloading all of those empty 9mm cases..

Any of you guys shooting lead reloads in a Rugger PCC?

How's that working for you?

-kBob
I run coated bullets through mine. No issues other than the jamming I mentioned earlier which occurs whether I'm shooting coat we d or jacketed.

Like mine; it is for HD and range fun. Was $549 from a gun store in Alabama when they were nowhere to be found. I use G19 mags for fun with a G18 33 rounder for HD

Well its been nearly 2 years sonce thisnthread started and have yet to purchase a PC carbine.

Hell dont think ive picked up a new firearm in nearly 2 years. Maybe its time to pull the trigger on one.

Anyone have updates woth higher round counts?

I’m at an age where I’m cutting back on my collection but that being said, I was in the local shop the other day and picked one of these up. I played with all the buttons, drooled on it a bit, and then put it back. Do I want one? Yes. Will I get one? Probably not unless I buy a lucky lottery ticket. If they could stack rounds one on top of the other at 100 I would, but a carbine is generally not the platform for that.

This will probably be my next purchase. For those of you using it for HD, reconsider using light bullets. They may be traveling faster than the performance window. Check out the pistol caliber carbine ammo test on luckygunner.com. When my brother bought his, I did a lot of research and recommended the Federal HST 147gr.

I bought a PC40 a few years ago and shamefully have only put a couple hundred rounds through it.Most of them have been reloads without a hitch. I paid just over $500 and feel it was a good deal. You do need to snug all the threaded parts though.

I’ve had it about 2.5 years. Glock mag well and about 1000 rounds through it. Completely reliable so far and it runs great with the inexpensive Pmag and Korean Glock mags. It’s a bit heavy but I love how intelligently engineered it is. Use that threaded barrel to put a sweet flash hider on it!

A further, but minor point: my charging handle needs retightening every few hundred rounds or so.
I'd start with isopropyl alcohol on a pipe cleaner. Someone at Ruger must've grabbed the screw with oily fingers. The screw should stay in without any gorilla force or lok-tite. It certainly does on my unit.

I bought my PC Carbine at Academy, and it was pretty cheap - something like $480 maybe? And then I traded it in even cheaper when I bought PC Charger - $325. Now I think I made a mistake, I should've kept it and just used both. These days $599 is about the going price at local gun shops.

I have an early model that went back to Ruger at their expense. Absolutely no problems since then. A couple of thousand reloads through it and I'm happy with the iron sights or red dot. Very accurate and fun to pink with along side my 10-22s.

I bought the Ruger carbine a few years ago. It was accurate and did what it was supposed to do, but overall kind of clunky for me. Eventually I spent the money and went to the Beretta CX4 instead. It is less clunky and just as accurate. It was a few hundred more, but over the lifetime that's not much if you intend to keep it and enjoy it. My older eyes dictated a red dot instead of the iron sights. I also added a couple of the buttstock spacers for LOP. The Beretta works great with the red dot. It makes me smile every outing with it.

For many, many years... whenever I need to clean all old lube or grease from small metal parts - they're simply removed then dropped into a shallow bath of mineral spirits (the label at your hardware store will likely be "paint thinner"). After they've soaked for a bit, a quick scrub with an old toothbrush while still wet will remove any remaining residue from any petroleum product... Then the part(s) is placed on a paper towel or newspaper and allowed to air dry... Whether it's a fishing reel or a small parts from a firearm - this routine will never fail you. Then it will your choice whether to replace any oil or grease - or leave it dry...
That bath, when it gets dirty is filtered though paper towels to remove any solid residues after cleaning, then sealed up and used again -over and over... if you want to..
