I have what I think is a Stevens 325B, that is what is marked on the barrel. Looking at the receiver, it is not drilled and tapped for either a receiver sight or side mounted scoe mount. I was under the impression that only the 325 was not D&T, but that the 325A, B, C were. Is this correct? Or is it possible this was an earlier rifle with a newer model barrel installed? Any information would be appreciated. This rifle also has a round bolt knob and not the Mannlicher styled "spoon handle" bolt.

Geez not sure. I have a 325 with spoon handle and no mounting holes. But I thought the later versions where D&T'd also. On the first 325 the barrel nut is smooth. Later models had the notches IIRC. Whats yours?

Mines smooth so yours probably is a "b". Don't know why it isn,t d&t. Mines 30-30 and fun to shoot cast boolits in along with my lever actions. Nice thing you can load pointed bullets to get flatter trajectory and more down range energy. But don,t load past lever action loads as the spring steel extractor won,t pull the cases out. Good luck with it. Heres a great article on these rifles and it lookes like the "c" was the first to have holes for a receiver sight.

And more info on the later Savage 340.
