My California friend, who has now moved back to the United States, left me an ammo can full of mostly #4 buckshot. 14 boxes! This stuff was always hard to find, even before the panic. I have been told by many people that this is the best choice for home defense, especially in an urban setting. I have also heard from a couple of leopard hunters that this is the buckshot of choice for following up a wounded leopard, where the shot might be measured in feet, not yards.

And squirrels don’t forget them. What an excellent friend you have. I am busy loading my own. Hard to find.

My friend and I have traded many presents over the years. We're about even.
Always good to have a friend (or more) like that. I've got a couple, but I can't say we're about even because nobody ever keeps score.
#4's are my favorite for turkey, pheasant, and home defense.

I bought a pack of fiocchi 4buck a few months ago, stuff seems to come and go. Congrats on getting a good supply.

Given the present supply situation any buckshot is good buckshot.

I prefer #1, 0, or 00 in that order, but given present circumstances if I didn't have any on hand I would be quite happy to be given such a haul. Congratulations!

I have been around leopards and they're not super scarry. They can definitely tear you a new one. 4 buck seems like plenty for a medium size cat.

Back before direct deposit when soldiers were paid in cash my platoon would occasionally be designated to provide security for the division finance office and several of the officers that transported the cash to the battalion and company level areas.

The 870 Remington shotguns we were issued came with 15 rounds of buckshot designated: Shell, Shotgun, Plastic Case, No. 4 Buck, Special, XM257. This is the ammo that we also practiced with at the range.

Since then my go to SD shotgun ammo has always been #4 Buckshot. Sometimes It was hard to find but it became much easier, and cheaper, when the internet became a thing.

Years ago, Buck was hard to find around here until Big 5 started selling surplus over runs of GI milspec 00s.
While traveling through Oregon (a decade before the current CA ammo laws) I picked up a 25 round box of Estate 4 Bucks for HD.
I later scored two 15 round value-pak boxes of Winchester Walmart 00 Buck.
I figure I've got enough Buck to last me the rest of my life
It's kind of cool have a "war chest" with all the current urban lawlessness going on though.
