My FIL likes the 200 gr ballistic tip in his .338WM for deer hunting (the Combined Technologies coated Nosler Ballistic Tip). It appears that ammo is no longer made and with the shortage of ammo right now, I told him I'd load some ammo for him.
I've got the bullets, dies, and some brass on the way. I just need to decide which powder to try first. Based on Hodgdon, Accurate, and Alliant's websites, the best powders that I have are: RL17, AA4350, IMR4350, H4831, IMR4831. I have only one pound of RL17 and several pounds each of the others. I also have several pounds of H4895, but the published velocity is a bit lower than the others. Which powder should I start with?
Also, is there a must have powder for .338WM that I haven't listed? Powder can be hard to find, but now that I'm loading for .338WM I'd like to keep my eyes open.
